About
Nice to meet you! I'm Alice.
In my academic life, I researched the differences in peri-urban (within one hour of a city) agriculture between the 2,425 largest urban centres in the world. This meant wrangling a number of high resolution globally gridded datasets (and a lot of time debugging R code), but I also found my way out of the office to get my hands dirty collecting carbon gas flux measurements and wetland grasses in Atlantic Canada. And trust me, you have not known fun until you are then identifying and sorting grassland samples in the lab (and finely grinding their soil).
I graduated from McGill University in Spring 2024 with a Bachelors of Arts and Science in Sustainability, Science, and Society with an emphasis on Health Geography. My honours research was done at the Land and Food lab under the supervision of Dr. Graham MacDonald.
I'm passionate about R (and the ecosystem that surrounds it), GIS (be it Arc or Q), and have dipped my toes into the world of websites with this site (and others). I love exploring urban environments, with the unique niches and places they create and leave behind. As a public transit enthusiast, I've organised 100% speedruns of the Montréal Métro in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 with friends (ultimately achieving a fastest time of 2:54:58).
